New Image2DALLAS – OnMessage, a messaging infusion company, is again shining the spotlight on hunger in North Texas by collecting canned goods for the North Texas Food Bank (NTFB).
Employees at the company’s Dallas office will build a tree of cans with donations collected at their Thursday, November 21 Thanksgiving celebration.

The tree, which will stand six-‐feet tall, will remain in the company’s lobby through the New Year, when OnMessage will donate the cans to NTFB.

NewImage2200x300This is the fifth annual food drive for OnMessage, with the company collecting more than 4,000 cans in the first four years for NTFB. This year’s goal is to collect 1,500 cans of\ food from the company’s local employees.“We’ve been part of the North Texas community for more than decade and, as good neighbors, we want to raise awareness about the often-‐overlooked problem of hunger in the area,” said James O’Gara, president and founder of OnMessage.

Suburban poverty in the U.S. is twice the poverty rate of cities, and Texas suburban poverty is growing faster than the national average, according to recent research by the Brookings Institution. Between 2007 and 2010, the number of unemployed Texans living in the suburbs more than doubled.

New ImageAlone with poverty often comes food insecurity and hunger. OnMessage is proud to donate to NTFB, a nonprofit hunger relief organization that supports the nutritional needs of children, families and seniors through education, advocacy and strategic partnerships.
“We are extremely thankful for On Message’s dedication to the North Texas Food Bank over the past five years their canned food donation are critical to our missionof providing access to 175,000 nutritious meals per day to help feed nearly 800,000 hungry North Texans,” said Dr. Kim Aaron, Executive Vice President, Programs and Advocacy, NTFB.

“With the help of OnMessage, we’ve been able m to feed an additional 1,000 hungry people. This generosity is helping no only the food bank, but also our 262 partner agencies and the thousands of people they serve.”
