The Construction and Business Bank’s Ambo branch claims 2 million birrs damage when the recent violent protest in the city burned a building in which the bank’s branch reside. As the Construction and Business Bank’s President Ato Haileyesus Bekele told Reporters on Friday all the office equipments inside the branch office are burned down. He also said that as the office workers noticed a violent upsurge in the town that day, they put 1.3 million birr and documents on the safe which was then spared off the disaster.
Aside one office guard who got injured on his leg as he jumped from the window of the office, no worker has been hurt. The branch office that started operation in 2003 E.C has 468 customers. Since the branch hasn’t been connected through a network connection with the main office, most of valuable documents are saved by the effort of the branch’s workers. The president has also said that the branch office is preparing to start its operation at another office.
