The Awramba community has celebrated its 42nd anniversary. The community that was established in 1964 E.C with nineteen members now has more than 482 members. Though the community was established in 1964 E.C it was in 1978 E.C that it began to be well organized. As the community’s founder Zumra Nuru told DireTube news, the objective of the celebration is to introduce and let others know the magnificent good experiences of the community.
The 42nd anniversary celebration was held yesterday on June 9, 2014 at the Genet Hotel, Addis Ababa. Invited guests from various universities, from the ministry of culture and tourism and the public have attended the ceremony.
The Awramba community is widely recognized by many for its incorporation of women rights and other insightful ways of life. The founder of the Awramba community, Zumra Nuru, is granted an honorary doctorate degree by Jimma University in 2002 E.C.
