The licenses are given to Oyaya multimedia plc and HH & TY media and communication where Oyaya got FM 100.1 named “Bisrat FM 100.1” and HH&TY Media and communication got FM 102.9 named “Abay FM 102.9”.
The authority’s deputy director Leoul Gebru said at the ceremony that the authority had a plan to give six FM radio licenses (Four for Addis and one each to Bahir dar and Hawassa) but there were only three applicants of which only two had fulfilled the requirements.
The deputy director said at the ceremony that the new FM radios have to deliver valid and trustworthy broadcasts that go with the governing principles of the country’s constitution.
