On his latest press conference on current issues on February 10, 2014, Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn has answered to questions raised by journalists from different media.
Concerning the trio discussion between Ethiopia, Sudan and Egypt on the Renaissance dam’s construction project, the Premier said that meetings haven’t yet been finalized. About the Ethio-Sudan border demarcation issue where some are saying that a land been given to Sudan, the Prime Minister said that such an issue can’t happen and the recent accusation is one of the ring of blames that has always been raised when election time approaches.
When asked whether he is willing to hold on to the Premiership post after the coming election time, he cited his predecessor the late Meles Zenawi’s maxim that he is willing to serve at whatsoever position it be if it comes from his party and he expressed that his wish is also the same. About the ever declining service capability by the EthioTelecom especially in the recent times, the Prime Minister points the reason for the problem as coming from the expansion work and he hopes that the problem will be resolved after six months.
Concerning the water shortage issue which is becoming rampant in the capital, the Premier said that it is only 75% of the city which is getting the 24 hours service and that his government is working strenuously to close the gap.
