Mr.Seeye Abraha Hagos(Ethiopia) is UNDP Liberia Security Sector Reform Advisor.

ac52735dHe has been one of the key players in the affairs of his country including politics, military and economic development. He served his country as Minister of Defense, Parliamentarian and Board Chairman of big national corpor ations like Ethiopian Airlines.

He was one of the founders of the T PLF/EPRDF, the current ruling party of the country, and was the commander of the rebel TPLF/EPRDF army that brought an end to the brutal military dictatorship in 1991. Later, in his capacity as Minister of Defense and Legislator he negotiated with all other armed rebel groups to their cessation of armed struggle and joining of the Transitional Government that was established following the demise of the military junta.

Besides restructuring the Ministry of Defense into a nimble and effective institution and laying the foundations for a new national defense force, Seeye oversaw the implementation of a DDR program affecting over half a million ex servicemen and ex combatants. He also had a key role during the 1998-2000 Ethio Eritrean War both in reversing the Aggression of the other side and in the design of the conditions for the deployment UN Peace Keeping Forces.

In the economic field Seeye had significant role in the introduction of the economic rehabilitation and restructuring policies following the end of the war in the early nineties. As part of the restructuring process he served as board chairman of both Ethiopian Airlines and Ethiopian Telecommunications and led their establishment as autonomous corporate entities.

He also was involved in the running of a big Endowment Fund, EFFORT, which was involved in diverse development activities.

Education wise, He has a Masters Degree from Harvard and an other from the Open University.

Seeye is married and has three children.
