More than twenty tones of Tantalum deposit found in Gudji Zone

242083aeEthiopian Geological Survey announced that studies have confirmed the existence of more than twenty tones of Tantalum deposit in the Oromia region’s Gudji zone.

As the Ethiopian Geological Survey’s communication director Tamiru Mersha told ENA, in the Kenticha area of the Oromia region’s Gudji zone, a huge Tantalum deposit is confirmed to have existed.

The director told ENA that Tantalum is an essential element for the making of various modern electronics and expensive medical apparatuses.

Ministry of mines communication director Ato Bacha Fajie in his part said that including the Chinese and Israeli companies and the Ethiopian Development plc, currently about seven companies are engaged in Tantalum exploration in the country. Above 260 companies have also taken license for mineral exploration in Ethiopia.

In the current fiscal year alone 80 tons of Tantalum is exported to China. Besides to this, in this fiscal year about 33,636kg Tantalum is collected from traditional miners.
