Mekelle University announced that it will open a Ph.D program in two sport science streams in the next academic year. The university’s natural and computational science college dean Dr. Habtu Alemayehu said that it is in the sport management and physical education streams that the Ph.D programs are launched.
Speaking on the curriculum review seminar held at the University’s main campus, Dr. Habtu said that the start of the new Ph.D programs will help enhance the country’s sport development endeavors.
He also said that educational infrastructures and equipments are prepared for the programs. It is also indicated that a cooperation agreement is signed with a university in Korea to help the Ph.D program flourish. It is also said that the construction of a sport academy will follow in a city’s neighborhood called ‘Baloni’ as part of a support to the Ph.D program.
