Mahlab discusses Egypt-Ethiopia relations with counterpart in Washington D.C

d00c2a0eEgyptian Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab met on Wednesday with his Ethiopian counterpart, Hailemariam Desalegn during the US Africa Leaders’ Summit in Washington D.C.

The two prime ministers discussed bilateral relations as well as the latest developments in the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam file.

Mahlab and Desalegn agreed on the need to boost the relations and cooperate on more joint projects between the two countries.

Egypt, Ethiopia and Sudan are set to hold another round of talks about the Grand Renaissance Dam 26 August in Khartoum.

The Renaissance Dam has been a source of concern for the Egyptian government as Cairo is concerned that the dam may have an adverse effect on Egypt’s Nile water share.

Ethiopia maintains that Egypt’s water share will not be negatively impacted by the project.

Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab represented Egypt in the US-Africa Summit held in Washington D.C to discuss economic and political cooperation between the United States and African countries.
