Looted Tabot Retuned Back to Ethiopia after 17 years

55735cc9The ‘Medehanialem Tabot’ that was looted from Ethiopia has returned back to Ethiopia after 17 years of stay outside the country. The reason behind the loot hasn’t yet been disclosed.

The 70 years old Tabot is known to have been taken from the Atse Washa Monastery of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church’s Shoa area. The Tabot arrived at Bole International Airport on Friday, April 25, 2014 from Djibouti.

The Tabot is said to be retuned back due a collaborative effort of some individuals, the Ethiopian Othodox Tewahedo church and the Authority for Research and Conservation of Cultural Heritage.
