The Ethiopian house of federation rejects the appeal of the Menja community to be considered as a separate ethnic group. It is indicated that the SNNP’s house of nations and nationalities has previously rebuffed the request of the community saying that it doesn’t fulfill the requirement for a separate ethnic group.
Ato Daniel Demessie of the House of Federation’s the constitution and regions’ affairs committee said that the community doesn’t fulfill the requirements written in the Article 39 and sub article 5 of the Ethiopian constitution.
Ato Daniel said that the House has passed other very important decisions in favor of the community. The House is also seeing into the Kontumana and Kemante communities request to be considered as separate ethnic entities.
