Various businesses in Merkato that have been operating without a receipt are being closed down by authorities. The businesses that are being closed include importers, wholesalers, retailers and others.
Authorities have said that the businesses would face charges in the court within 24 hours. Cloth, electronics and oil seeds business are some of the businesses that are closed.
Addis Ababa city trade and investment development bureau and the city’s command post coordinator Ato Shisema Gebresellasie has said that the action taken would help to create a legitimate business environment where country gets benefitted.
