Factories in Addis that don’t treat their waste are to be punished

280d8930Addis Ababa city’s Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) warned that it is preparing to punish those factories in the city that don’t treat their waste before dumping it into the environment.

EPA said that most of the industries in the city don’t treat well the waste that they are producing as a byproduct of the manufacturing process. It added that the industries are only concerned about their profit not about the waste that they are throwing into the environment. It is indicated that a great deal of damage has occurred on the environment and the lives of the public.

EPA said that a five years time had been given to the factories for them to be able to ready themselves and begin treating their waste. But since most of the factories haven’t yet resolved to treat their waste, the agency has warned to begin punishing them.
