EthioTelcom employees who have cheated more than 328 thousand birr charged

9d94eda0The federal ethics and anti corruption commission’s prosecutor has charged ten individuals including two EthioTelcom’s workers for cheating more than 328 birr by breaking into EthioTelecom’s customers SIM card details and withdrawing money sent to customers using counterfeit Identity cards.

Among ten suspects it is only four of them who have appeared before the federal high court’s 18th criminal bench on August 5, 2014.

The court ordered for the remaining suspects to appear on the next court session. As the prosecutor’s charge document indicates the two suspects who are EthioTelecom’s employees have broken into the customers SIm card details.

And using that they have taken the secret money transfer codes sent to some customers and withdrawn the money by using counterfeit identity cards. The six suspects including the two EthioTelecom employees haven’t appeared on court. The court has denied the plea for bail of the four suspects who have appeared before the court.
