The 2014 United Nation’s Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) report stated that Ethiopia has become the leading African country by registering a higher economic growth index for the five consecutive years.
According to the report, Ethiopia has registered an average economic growth index of 9.4% for five consecutive years from 2009 to 2013. The report mentioned efforts in the service, construction and agricultural sectors of the country as the main reason for the increased growth index.
The report puts the oil rich Libya’s economic growth as the second highest with the average growth index of 8.7% for the same period of five consecutive years.
