Ethiopian student awarded for his invention in AI

3359f028Nineteen years old Addis Ababa university student Nael Hailemariam has been into invention and discovery from early age.

He was only eleven when he invented a formula which relates with the famous Arithmetic sum formula of the German mathematician Carl Friedrich Gauss; where in the Nael’s case his formula deals with numbers being subtracted.

Later on, under the two formulas he invented he has also invented six others.

Nael has presented his formulas to the Addis Ababa University (AAU)’s mathematics department and at an international mathematics conference held in Addis two years ago; where in both cases the professors have confirmed the validity of his mathematical find. Recently, Nael who is now a second year computer science student at AAU won a competition organized by the Chinese Bihyang University for his three inventions the prominent one of which deals with the issue of Artificial intelligence.

Nael has travelled to China to present his work and since the university awarded him a scholarship he is preparing to leave to China in the coming August. Nael has a vision to establish a mathematical institution in Ethiopia that would be a hub for young mathematical talents.
