The Ethiopian House of People’s Representatives (HPR) during its extraordinary session on Monday endorsed a 178.5 billion Birr national budget for 2014/15 fiscal year.
Having thoroughly deliberated on a report and a resolution presented to it by the Budget and Finance Affairs Standing Committee, the House approved the budget unanimously.
The House had, previously, discussed the draft budget with Ministry of Finance and Economic Development.
The House on the occasion rejected a cut motion proposing the use of domestic loan to fix budget deficit.
45 billion Birr of the total budget has been allocated for federal spending while 66 billion has been apportioned for capital expenditures.
51.5 billion Birr of the budget goes to backing regional governments while he remaining 15 billion will be used to accomplish the Millennium Development Goals.
