Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources Mohamed Abdel Mutalib said on Thursday 22/05/2014 that his ministry is now establishing some 52-million-dollar projects in the Nile Basin countries.
These projects include drilling wells, establishing hydraulic research laboratories and training technical cadres there, the Minister said.
According to a report received by the Minister about the Egyptian initiative to develop Nile Basin countries, including Ethiopia, Egypt will train technical cadres to develop the Nile resources. Free scholarships would be offered to Nile basin countries students.
Abdel Mutalib made clear that Egypt dug about 10 wells for ground water and would establish five dams for the rainwater, noting that research center for hydraulics would also be established within the framework of the Egyptian initiative.
