A Ukrainian Antonov passenger aircraft that was heading from Entebbe, Uganda to Sana’a, Yemen through an Ethiopian Airspace crashed near Addis at a place called Legedadi on Monday.Ethiopian Civil Aviation officials said that the aircraft’s pilots request to the Ethiopian air traffic controllers for a permit to pass through an Ethiopian air space was granted and the aircraft was near Addis when its engine got into a problem. After notifying the air traffic controllers about the problem, the aircraft was heading to the Bole airport to have an emergency landing when it finally crashed at 9:35 A.M at Legedadi, on the outskirts of Addis.
There were no passengers inside the aircraft and the pilots who got injured are taken immediately to the hospitals. The cause of the crash is being investigated and evidence is being collected from the wreckage site.
