An Electric Transformer Factory is to Begin Work

A factory that can manufacture more than 10 000 transformers a year to begin operation at the end of this Ethiopian year. This new factory under METEC is expected to save foreign exchange by manufacturing transformers in the country.

Currently the Ethiopia power engineering industry’s transformer manufacturing unit manufactures about 5 000 transformers a year. The additional manufacturing from the new factory will raise the country’s transformer manufacturing capability to more than 15 000 transformers a year.

The factory is being built west of Addis Ababa at a place called Tatek. The factory’s construction is completed 90%.
