As residents of Gerji, Balderas, Aware, Gofa and Arada neighborhoods of Addis told Addis Guday magazine, water contamination is becoming a very severe problem. Besides to the contamination, the residents have also complained about the interruption of water supply which is becoming common place.
Concerning the contaminated tap water reaching in the above neighborhoods, Addis Ababa water and sanitation authority’s Zeleke Teferi has told the magazine that his office hasn’t received any such complaints and that they are ready to fix, if any.
He has also said that the water from the distribution tankers has always been clean and up to the standard.
“From across the city water samples are always taken from about thirty different places to check water quality” He added.
