A federal high court’s tenth criminal bench sentenced Ato Yigerem Kifle to twenty years in prison in its June 18th, 2014 session for attacking a family with a hand bomb and inflicting physical harm of various degrees on numbers of people.
The federal prosecutor’s charge document depicts that Ato Yigerem used to create violence at the family of his ex-wife asking for a reunion and to get custody of their two years old daughter.
Two years ago, on December 29, 2011, Ato Yigerem had gone to the family of his ex-wife and in a violence created in his effort to take away the daughter from the custody of the family, he threw bombs on his ex-wife, her sister and the neighbors and caused different levels of physical harm.
He had also caused a 17,000 birr worth of damage on two vehicles in the ensued violence. Therefore, the federal high court’s tenth criminal bench after a lengthy court case where the prosecutor presented numerous testimonies and medical evidences on the degree of the physical harm inflicted by the suspect, the court in its June 18th, 2014 session sentenced Ato Yigerem Kifle to twenty years in prison with five years long ban from any public rights.
