A Bridegroom who fails to Skin the Sheep Appropriately Losses His Bride

Ato Yimam Indera is the resident of the Southern Wollo, Jama woreda, Kebele 02. According to the tradition of the area which is also customary in most parts of the country, the parents of the bridegroom have asked for their son the daughter of Ato Yilma for marriage whom he agreed after a thorough consideration.

The wedding ceremony is held in a very good way. But on the next day, according to the tradition of the area the bridegroom is expected to slaughter and skin a sheep and hand over the meat to the relatives of the bride. But those who received the slaughtered sheep’s meat haven’t got the job done well.

When this news reached Ato Yilma, he got enraged. “I will not give my daughter to someone who doesn’t know even how to appropriately skin the sheep…” Ato Yilma said and he took his daughter back sending the bridegroom and his party empty handed.
