13 foreign Nationals arrested for illegal Wildlife Trade

13 Nationals Got into Custody in Addis for Illegal Wildlife Products Trade Ethiopian Wildlife Conservation Authority announced that in the past six months alone 68 individuals of 13 Nationals are got into custody for engaging in illegal wildlife products trade.

Among them there were Nigerian, Belgian, USA, China, Gini and France nationals. Though illegal wildlife products trade is expanding these days, the Authority said that it has increased its monitoring activities. It is said that most of the products were items made of ivory and it was while been tried to smuggle it out of the country through Bole International Airport that the items are mainly been seized.

It is known that some have been caught while trying to smuggle ivory and leopard skins out of the country through the border. Recently security forces in Gondar have seized a 61Kg weighing ivory that was tried to be smuggled out of the country. Moreover, more than 74 leopard skins have also been seized.
