Tanzanian Council of Ministers approved, on Tuesday, the Convention on the Nile Basin Initiative, an agreement known as the “Entebbe” and submit them to the Tanzanian parliament for approval, as announced by the Ethiopian Foreign Ministry.
We Mufti said the spokesman of the Ethiopian Foreign, in statements made by the Ethiopian News Agency today that the Council of Ministers of Tanzania ratified the Convention on the Nile Basin Initiative.
The Mufti in his remarks to the controversial media earlier on the position of Tanzania and the frequency that it had changed its view of the approval of the Convention to reject them, he commented, “some media published the news that Tanzania changed its view of the Nile Basin Initiative, but now the position of Tanzania became clear through the ratification of the Council of Minister the Convention. ”
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Tanzania Bernard Kameles Membe said in a parliamentary session early June, “said his country feels that the separation of the Convention on Entebbe, which speaks for the provision of equal share and just the natural resources of the Nile River for all countries, must be reconsidered in favor of Egypt, as it is a country where the desert and the Nile is a lifeline. ”
In 2010, the countries signed the source of the Nile River, which is Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and Tanzania, a framework agreement, in the Ugandan capital Entebbe, to request additional share of the Nile waters, and the following year joined the Burundi to the Convention, aimed to get rid of the treaty dating back to the colonial era ,
