Trinidad and Tobago was the first country outside Africa and Jerusalem to receive the Ethiopian Orthodox Church.
The Ethiopian Orthodox Church is the oldest Christian Church in the world.
The Church arrived in Trinidad on 16th December 1952 and now exists also in Guyana, Barbados, Jamaica, Bermuda, Martinique, several North American states, Canada, Germany, Sweden and South Africa.
His Grace, Abuna Thaddaeus, a native of Ethiopia, is the Archbishop of the Caribbean and Latin America with his seat in Trinidad and Tobago.
