Roads Authority and Railroads Corporation are disagreed about Pedestrian crossings

146fdb64The pedestrian crossings that were designed to be implemented on right across the Addis’ light train railway have caused a disagreement between Roads Authority and Railroads Corporation.

Up to this phase of the project the two were working with full cooperation and agreement. But the design that allows for pedestrians to cross over the railway track has triggered concern and opposition from the Roads Authority.

Though it is indicated that there will be signs and signals at such crossings, the authority expressed its concern that it would create traffic jam.

The Authority suggested for either the railway or the pedestrians crossing be on the bridge. The Addis light railway project is expected to be finalized on April 2015. Morethan 200 Ethiopians are sent to China to be trained as train master and train technicians.

It is indicated that the building of the passenger vehicles is underway in addition to the railway construction. Each passenger vehicle has 64 seats and can carry more than 280 passengers.
