The Ethiopian movie industry is growing currently producing more than a hundred movies a year. The movies produced are forced to pass through two marketing outlets that are not effective to reach out large population: DVD sales and cinema. In 2010 a company was established to revolutionize the way Ethiopian movies are distributed over the internet. After ups and downs of this small company, it finally decided to open up the market to viewers by making it free (Taken from an article on their website. click here to read). Shortly after management change within the company, they restructured their business model and relaunched again to meet the viewers demand. After realizing the exact demand of viewers through their business model, Ethiocinema management offered deals to movie owners to work together. For unknown reason, a deal could not be reached that arouse the tension between movie producers and viewers. The movie makers recently made a documentary movie denouncing the act of Ethiocinema and Amharic Movies. After releasing this documentary on ethiotube.net, a back lash happened on pages where this video is posted (Watch Documentary Here). It has embarrassingly became obvious that their business approach is what put them in the mess and dragged the progress of the movie industry. The market has spoken what it wants but their business approach has mislead the progress. Our staff is currently waiting for an update from the producers. in the mean time, here are some of the comments we collected from a well known website which represent over 98% of the comments over the internet.
