On an Ethiopian orthodox church’s congregation held on February 28 and March 1, 2014, the church’s patriarch remark on the some religious groups of the church annoyed some members of these groups.
The patriarch said on the congregation that “…there are some who wants to have a church service in biology and chemistry…” For members of religious groups in the church the remark is considered an attack on the groups and some members of the groups demanded for the patriarch to reconsider the remark.
Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church’s patriarch Abune Matias said that “there are some who want to rule the church by a university certificate. The church has her own rules and regulations.”
The complaining members of the groups said that though there are some groups and members that have some defects, valuing every group and individual in the church the same way is erroneous. “Most of the religious groups under the umbrella of the church are contributing a great deal to the church’s members and the church’s work and the remark by the patriarch was greatly inconsiderate of these fact” they said.
