Oil Exploration Works are Showing Promising Results: Ministry of Mines Ethiopian Ministry of Mines stated that oil and natural gas exploration works that has been carried out in the country is showing promising results. Minister of Mines, Ato Tolossa Shagi said that evidences gathered in the exploration are good indicators of the oil and gas presence in the areas.
He also announced that data are showing an economically promising amount in the areas. Among the 13 oil exploration companies that have got license for oil and gas exploration work in the country, two of them have already started digging and studying the amount in the areas.
The others who are engaged in an on land survey and exploration works are expected to start digging soon. African Oil that dug 2,850 meters in the Southern Omo valley and noticed an oil and gas in the well has already started checking the amount in the area.
