METEC Started Importing the Last Light Train Parts

79ea3165The Metals and Engineering Corporation (METEC) which is engaged in building railroad cars for the Addis Ababa’s light train has began importing the last essential components for its work on the railroad cars.

The corporation is also assembling buses that are designed for the city’s transportation need and the building of parts for the electric light trains of the capital.

The corporation said that currently what remain in the light train work is the authentication and certification procedure.

Besides its work for Addis’s light train project, METEC is also building train parts for the huge train project that span across the country. It is indicated that a Chinese company which is building the train routes that connects various Ethiopian cities had given a work for METEC for some work.

Addis Ababa’s light train project which is completed more than 50 % has the length of 34.25 kms. This a 475 million dollar project is expected to be finalize in 2007 E.C. Addis’s light train has the capability to serve 80,000 passengers every hour.
