Government to build home for Former President Girma Woldegiorgis

a0f9729dThe Ethiopian government has decided to build a new home for the former president Girma Woldegiorgis. The task is handled to the Ethiopian housing development agency where it has planned to build at the Nifas silk lafto subcity. The agency is preparing to have a design for the new building where it intends to demolish its own villa and in its place to erect a new one.

It is indicated that the building work is to be given to a private building contractor. The building that will have all the essential facilities will rest on a 5,000 square meter area. Girma Woldegiorgis has served as the country’s president for the last 12 years before handing it over on September 2013 to Dr. Mulatu Teshome. Leaving the office, Girma hasn’t returned to his own home.

Since the government has not found an appropriate home among its own, it was forced to rent an expensive 400,000 Br per month mansion. But the case of this expensive mansion has raised severe criticisms and the government has responded now to build one of its own by its agency.
