An Ethiopian music conductor and Yared Music School Director Getachew Gessi passed away. Getachew, 60, who has a prominent role on the Ethiopian music has died today on March 1, 2014.
Getachew has conducted music orchestras at the National Theatre and has served as director of the Yared Music School starting from the 1980’s E.C till his death. Yekatit and Abay were his two most important symphony works.
Getachew has studied music at the Bulgaian Music Academy. Getachew was single and doesn’t have offsprings.
