Ethiopian airlines announced that it ranked 18th among the top 50 airlines in the world based on the 228 million USD operating profit it earned for 2013 by International Air Transport Association (IATA).
Ethiopian has also got the leading place in Africa for its operating profit margin. For its total income amounting to 2.3 billion USD in 2013, Ethiopian airlines is ranked 37th among the world’s top 50 airlines. The South African Airlines, in its part, has got 38th rank among the world’s top 50 airlines for its 2.18 billion USD income. With a total income of 42.7 billion USD, Lufthansa has topped all the world’s airlines.
USA’s United Airlines and Delta Airlines have got second and third positions with a 38.2 billion USD and 37.6 billion USD incomes respectively. As the Ethiopian Airlines public relations office told ENA, the current result is a good indicator that the Airlines has been going in a successful path in the past years.
