Ethiopian federal police commission announced that Ethiopian police peacekeeping members are to head to South Sudan’s Abeyi region at the end of this month as part of a peacekeeping mission.
The thirty police members are selected from all the regions and will head to Abeyi on July 5, 2014 and an additional five will head to Darfur. The police officers are given driving, language and pre mission trainings at the Ethiopian police college. The officers are expected to give training and advice as part of their peacekeeping duty.
Currently, twenty nine Ethiopian police officers are engaged in peacekeeping activities in Abeyi and Darfu regions.
