Ethiopian maid saves employer’s drowning son in Saudi

262e1bd4An Ethiopian housemaid saved the life of her employer’s eight-year-old son after he nearly drowned in a swimming pool in the Gulf kingdom, prompting his father to reward her, a newspaper reported on Monday.

The boy was with his parents at a public rest house in the capital Riyadh when he slipped and fell into the pool, Sabq said. “My son started to scream…the maid then jumped into the pool and plucked him out…I decided to reward her with a two-month salary,” the boy’s father Ayed Al Qarni said.

“We have always heard about the crimes of Ethiopian housemaids in Saudi Arabia…but what happened her made us realise that they could be good if they are treated nicely.”
