Ethiopian Contractors to Build a 371 MW Hydroelectric Power Plant

6e79b29fEthiopian Electric Power Service (EEPS) decided for a collaboration of five Ethiopian contractors to build a 371 MW hydroelectric power plant on Geba River which is a tributary of Baro River.

The contractors are Sur construction and Mesfin Industrial engineering of the Effort investment group, the private company Sigma Electric Manufacturing Corporation, the government’s Metals Engineering Corporation (MetEC) and Water Works Design and Supervision Enterprise.

EEPS has decided to give the dam’s civil and hydro mechanical works for Sur construction and Mesfin Industrial engineering. The Electro mechanical works of the dam are also given to the Sigma Electric Manufacturing Corporation.

Moreover, the dam’s design work is handed to Metals Engineering Corporation (MetEC) and Water Works Design and Supervision Enterprise.

The hydroelectric power project needs between 600 and 650 million dollars and the fund for the project is not known yet.
