Months ago, the Ethiocinema management announced incorporation of a grading metrics to assist users make a better choice. Shortly after implementing the pilot program to train users on the grading system, users have urged the Ethiocinema industry to take it further and standardize the quality of each production. Without passing through a standard quality control, movies spread in the market misguide the perception of users into believing that all Ethiopian movies are low quality productions. Hence, a Grading Metrics or in short GM, or as some call it just “Grade,” is implemented by Ethiocinema to help viewers identify the quality of each movie and make a better choice. The grading system uses scales A, B, C and Am. The quality of each movie under the GM is evaluated according to set of criterion such as quality of editing, type of camera used, amount of budget, involvement of well known actors and producers. Best movie receives A grade while amateur movies will receive Am. In order to make the evaluation more transparent and accurate, Ethiocinema invites users rate the movies with the star system presented on the website or comment below each content. Mean while, the EC management announced that they will invest heavily in order to make this metrics the standard of our movie industry.
