Questions are Arising on the Health of the Eritrean President Isayas Afeworki
The health condition of the Eritrean President Isayas Afeworki whom has not been seen for the public or the media for over a month is in question.
As the Eritrean opposition website Asmerino writes, the last time the president was seen was at the 58th East Africa’s Locust Control Summit that was held some six weeks ago. Then, on October 30, 2013 he got treatment in the Airforce hospital in Asmara for his liver problem. After this he is known to have gone to Saudi Arabia and Qatar for an additional treatment.
Eritrean president office head Yemane Gebremeskel responded to the issue in his tweeter release as ‘…an utter laughable nightmare’. “The president is in a good health;” he added “There is nothing new. Asmerino wants to disseminate false claims. You can ask anyone in Asmara…Because everyone sees him as he entered to his office.” In addition to this, United States State Department has warned American citizens not to travel to Eritrea due to security reasons.
US State Department’s statement also pointed out that Eritreans who have American citizenship are being jailed for no reason. The statement also warned American citizens from passing through the Eritrean waters.
