Enat bank announced that it has prepared to give loans to disadvantaged women engaged in profitable businesses using closed account of some charitable individuals and organizations as collateral. The bank’s board chairperson W/o Meaza Ashenafi announced this at the bank’s first anniversary celebration.
W/o Meaza said that the service is a great opportunity for women who want to take loan but doesn’t have any collateral. One of the founders of Enat bank, W/o Amelework Gidey promised to open a closed account of four hundred birr for the service.
In its first year anniversary ceremony alone around three million birr is collected for the service which could serve to give loan for about 1, 500 women. In a one year time since its establishment the bank has given a total loan of 536.9 million birr and profited more than 32 million birr. Enat bank is founded with 257.4 million birr capital.
Women have more than 61% of Enat bank’s share.
