An unidentified amount of money is lost from CBE

Sources told the Reporter newspaper that an unidentified amount of money is lost from the Finfine branch and the finance control office of the Commercial bank of Ethiopia’s main office. The bank denied any kind of theft but admitted the detention of the bank’s employee and the fact that the bank’s transaction is being investigated.

As sources told the newspaper, more than four million birr has been stolen by the bank’s employees from the Finfine branch. The sources have also said that the theft as has been extremely advanced and that the bank’s higher officials have been taking the issue on secrecy where some of the employees under police custody.

Besides to this, Sources have also indicated that an unidentified amount of money as has been lost from the CBE’s main finance control office at Kera.

Responding to the newspaper’s inquiry, CBE’s communication head Ato Efrem Mekuria claimed that there haven’t been any money lost from the Finfine branch but the branch’s manager as has been put into custody at the Ethio-sudan’s border.He also told the newspaper that in connection with the arrest around four million of the bank’s transactions as has been on investigation.
