A man who Embezzled 282 000 Birr Network equipments sentenced to 7 Years in Prison

Addis Ababa City Administration’s trade, industry and development office worker Ayalew Bekele who embezzled a 282, 000 br worth of network equipments meant for network expansion projects is sentenced to seven years in prison.

Ato Ayalew had received network equipments meant for ten sub cities while working as an officer. The 42 year old was charged by the Ethiopian Ethics and Anti corruption commission prosecutor and he tried to defend the case by claiming that his position in the organization was not a store keeper and was not supposed to receive the items.

The Federal 1st instant court dismissed the suspect’s claim and sentenced him to seven years in prison for the embezzlement of government property that worth 282,000 Br.
