A Doctor is Accused of Harm Caused in Connection with Abortion

A doctor who is an owner of a clinic in Addis Ababa is accused of charges of harm inflicted by negligence in connection to abortion and a failure to help a patient on danger. Belayenesh Yimer, a two months pregnant woman, has gone to the Dr. Belachew Tolera’s Global Higher Clinic hoping to get medical help and advice on the cause of a miner issue when she noticed a blood like liquid streaming in connection with her pregnancy. But the accused doctor, examining her only with his finger and saying that the “position of the fetus is not right” he goes on inserting metal into her womb to abort the fetus.

The ensuing procedure has caused the walls of her womb to be pierced about 3.2 Cms, 70 cms of her small intestine to be damaged (and hence to be cut and removed) and about 300 cc blood to be gushed into her stomach. After he made the patient to pay 987 Br for the abortion; seeing a huge amount of blood gushing out from her, he took her with his vehicle to the Yekatit 12 Government hospital and he vanished.

The Federal First instant court that was seeing the cause has given an appointment to February 11, 2014
