13 Years Jail time for Man who try to Change Fake Money

541deedaThe suspect Bantiyergu Bekele was put into custody while he was trying to change forged Ethiopian birr notes at the Adama hotel. Besides the fifteen thousand forged money found when he was put in custody the police has found forged money making machine, a computer, various stamps, educational certificates, driving license and other forged documents are found at the suspect’s home.

The Adama special zone’s high court in his June 1, 2014 session sentenced the suspect who was charged of making and transferring forged money to thirteen years in prison and ten thousand birr fine.

The court also ordered for all the forged documents, money and equipments found at the suspect’s residence to be burned. The Adama special zone police office public relations officer Workinesh Gelmecha said in her part that the community should inform the police when forged money is intercepted in commercial transactions.
