The Addis Ababa housing development enterprise (AAHDE) announced that it will handover 1, 229 houses built under the 40/60 regime to the registered city dwellers next year. The enterprise is currently building 7 320 houses under 40/60 at seven different locations in Addis.
Though the enterprise hasn’t put a specific time table as to when it will complete the construction, it has planned to hand over the 1, 229 houses in 19 blocks at the sengatera and crown areas. It is known that 164, 779 individuals are registered for the 40/60 regime among which 72, 439 and 75, 793 individuals are registered for the three bedroom and two bedrooms condos respectively while the remaining 16, 547 are registered for the one bedroom condo.
The enterprises new 18 and 24 storey buildings for the forthcoming 40/60 regimes are waiting approval. The enterprises said that it is in the process of acquiring land for the planned 15 000 houses construction in the 2007 E.C.
