A WVU class is working toward providing electricity to a village in Ethiopia.
The class is getting help from New Vision Renewable Energy in Philippi.
The professor was approached by a young man from the Village who asked if they could help.
“Billing it as students helping students, because here’s a WVU student in graduate school in engineering, you sit by him on the PRT, or having lunch with him at the lair, or whatever, and you’d never know that he grew up in a village that didn’t have access to electricity, or light in the evenings and what a challenge that posed. So, it’s really kind of an awareness raising thing,” said Chris Haddox, a WVU Professor of Sustainable Design.
The group is trying to raise $2,000 on a website to give each home a water filter and a solar powered light.
