Ethiopian deputy minister of mines Tewodros G/Egziabeher said that the Ethiopian government won’t hide if oil is found in the country. He added that there were signs for the existence of oil rich rocks in the country but not yet confirmed.
The minister said this in a meeting the ministry held with member of the Ethiopian media in Bishoftu town recently. The deputy minister has also answered questions raised by the media on the issue of the possible conflict when oil is found. The deputy minister responded that the country’s federal democratic policy wouldn’t allow for such conflicts since it has taken ground.
Petroleum Search and Administration Directorate Director, Dr. Ketsela in his part said that there is nothing hidden about the oil exploration works in the country and that there are good indications of the possible existence of petroleum in the country.
